Pumpkin Stroll Cancelled

Due to the weather forecast for this Friday (rain & wind) the Pumpkin Stroll has been cancelled.  It is still a $2.00 dress down day.  The students are invited to dress in the “Down on the Farm” theme, this includes plaid shirts, overalls, pigtails etc.

Possible Lego Club

PMA is hoping to start a Lego Club for Grade 2, and perhaps Grades 1 or 3.  One of our PMA mom’s, Brenda Bond-Fortier, is willing to start this club with another parent or two.  We will need volunteers if we have lots of interest. The club would meet on either Mondays or Fridays for six-eight weeks beginning in January.  Please keep in mind that in order to participate you must be an approved PMA volunteer.  If you are interested in being part of this group please email Brenda at brendabond1@gmail.com


 

A few reminders

*Pre-K and Kinder Family Fun Night is Thursday, October 13, from 6 pm-7 pm.

*Grades 1-8 will attend Mass this Friday, October 14. 

     Grades 1-4 will be at 9 am
     Grades 6-8 will be at 1 pm 
     Students in Gr. 1-8 should wear their dress uniform. Junior High should wear their blazers.

*A meeting for PMA’s Auction will be held next Tuesday, October 18, at 7 pm. All are welcome to attend. 
*Please return shuttles to school on Thursdays.  
*Please be mindful of negative balances for your students lunch account. Not many parents have signed up for low balance notifications.  This can be set up with your own preferences under “Manage My Account”

Temporary School Entrance

Due to the construction we have lost access to our ramp entrance on the field side of the building.  To rectify this we are building ramp at the main school entrance. Construction on this ramp will be Thursday, October 13. If all goes according to plan, the ramp will be completed enough for use on Friday, 10/14. To accomplish this the school entrance will be shut down by 8 am tomorrow. Grade 1-8 morning car line will proceed normally. Pre-K parents should line up as usual and follow the teachers instructions for drop off.   Parents and visitors may access the school by using the Sister’s entrance, which is on the other side of the locker room. This entrance will have a temporary sign that says “School Entrance”.  You must hit the buzzer at this door to gain access to the school.

In order for this to go smoothly we ask that you be mindful of a few things: 
*All parents and visitors should park in the parking lot.  Do not park over near the Sister’s entrance.
*All students should be on time for school.  Tardy students will create extra difficulties in the morning.  
*Parents should refrain from dropping off forgotten items.

CYO Basketball

CYO Jr. Mites Co-ed Basketball (Grade 3 & 4) – $110

CYO Girls Mites Basketball (Grade 5 & 6) – $110

CYO Boys Mites Basketball (Grade 5 & 6) – $110

CYO Girls Cadets Basketball (Grade 7 & 8) – $110

CYO Boys Cadets Basketball (Grade 7 & 8) – $110

All CYO teams typically practice 1 to 2 times during the week at various times. Games are held on Sunday’s (Some Saturdays) at various locations (usually in Nashua). Practice times will be solidified once we have an idea of who is volunteering to coach our teams this year.

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ON FRIDAY OCTOBER, 21st 2016. Once registration closes, we will determine how many teams we will be fielding at each level. If there is a need for multiple teams at a certain level, we will do our best to divide the group evenly by ability level. If player numbers or volunteer numbers are low at a certain level, there is a chance we will not field a team at that level and money with be refunded.

Cheer Registration

Cheer registration is open.  Practice schedules are below. Please follow the link to register your child.  October is a trial month and registration fees do not have to be paid until November.

Practice Times:
*Tiny Mites (Gr. 1-2) practice Saturdays 1 pm to 2:30 pm
The first Tiny Mites practice: Saturday, October 15, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm

*Mites (Gr. 3-5) practice Tuesdays and Fridays 5:30 pm to 7 pm

The first Mites practice will be Tuesday, October 18, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm

*Middle school (Gr. 6-8, Gr. 5 by tryout) practice will be Fridays after school until 4 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 1 pm
The first middle school practice will be on Saturday, November 12 from 10 am to 1 pm

*Tryouts for Middle School team (including Gr. 5 and boys) will be Saturday, November 5, from 1 pm-4 pm

*Middle school will also have three cheer clinics in October: Wednesday, October 12, after school until 4 o’clock Friday, October 14, after school until 4 o’clock and Wednesday, October 26, after school until 4 o’clock these clinics are open to middle school cheerleaders and the fifth grade cheerleaders that want to try out for the middle school team. These clinics are free but you must be registered for cheer.  Choir members must attend choir practice on Wednesdays and not the above clinics.
If your daughter is in 2nd grade and has cheer experience (not just attended a cheer camp) or tumbling experience and would like to be on the Mite team please register her and then email Chris.Thompson328@gmail.com to let me know that she’d like to move up to Mites. Please also tell me her cheer experience and or tumbling skills.

Important Car Line Information

Construction has recently begun on the Thompson Center for Athletics and Performing Arts.  Due to this we cannot have vehicles using the road that goes past the athletic field.  This road is for construction vehicles only. When you drive onto the PMA property there are only 2 roads that should be used by parents and visitors.  The main drive (with the big stairs) is used for Kindergarten, Junior High and afternoon activity car lines.  The drive to the right (as you face the building) is used for ALL other school traffic. Please do not attempt to enter the back car line area by driving up the athletic field drive.  This is unsafe as we have many after school or sports students walking in that area. 

Please pass this information on to anyone that drives for your family, including grandparents and babysitters.
